Tell us about your business.
TonShay Theresa The Experience is a life style blog. It walks my readers through my experience at an event, on vacation, or an activity and what to expect if they decided to attend the same thing. My passion for writing started with creating a short story for the Real Divas Win Anthology. Shortly after I finished my chapter for the book, I had  a couple cancer removal surgeries and writing became a distraction while I was battling cancer. I am single living in Chicago so I am always out at an event or hanging out with friends. One of my friends suggested blogging about my experiences and that is where it all started. I just want to help people especially women enjoy whatever phase they are in life and know it’s okay. I want to inspire someone to take that trip that have been thinking about or go to that event they keep turning down. I aspire to influence my readers to enjoy life.
What does entrepreneurship mean to you and why did you step into this arena?
Entrepreneurship to me means freedom. Freedom to make money doing my God-given talent. The ability to help someone and it be measured by my accomplishments not by a company’s bottom line.

What or who has been your greatest influence in business and why?

I am influenced by everyone that get out everyday and make entrepreneurship work. I not easy and takes tons of dedication. The entrepreneurs that also have a full-time job are my hero’s. It’s like they are working two full time jobs and giving them both their all. It takes determination to not let life get in the way of the big picture.

What would you say is your greatest win in business?

My greatest win has been having my first blog make an international blogger. Also, have Real Divas Win make the Amazon best sellers list. To have your dreams exceed you expectations is an amazing feeling.

What’s the best advice you have received in business that you wish to pass on to our readers?

While recently on vacation my good friend Shenita made the best quote ever. “When you realize life is just a bunch of hills and valleys you can appreciate the top of the hill so much better.” To me this means appreciate your small accomplishment, downfalls and struggles when you reach the top,  it will all be worth it.

What has been the most effective marketing initiatives or programs you have used to promote your business?

The only marketing I have tried are referrals, Facebook and Instagram promotions. I have a small budget for advertising so that is working well for me right now.

What have you learned as a business owner and entrepreneur that you can pass on to others seeking this position or just started out in business?

Are there any resources or tools you’d like to share with other small business owners that have helped you run your business?

I have learned that it’s trial and error. It has been a great learning experience and there is always tomorrow to start over again. I had been quite the emotional journey.  I knew nothing about creating a website or entrepreneurship so it was important for me to find some mentors and someone to help me with my social media presence. Tiffany A Green of Tiffany The Brand is responsible for all my website and most of my Instagram post. She does an amazing job and we understand each other and the value each of us brings to the relationship. We don’t always agree but we always create something amazing and that’s what’s important. She is passionate about what she does and makes her clients her priority. Tiffany has been essential to helping me maneuver through this new venture. Although she lives in Atlanta she quick to jump on a plane to Chicago and come to my rescue. (

Cheryl Katherine Wash of Global Executive Media has been a great mentor. She helps me work on things that I never knew I needed to improve on. She teaches me the business of entrepreneurship and is always available for advice if I need her. An excellent mentor and businesswoman. I want to thank Cheryl for helping me create content to teach others about blogging. She is definitely a #storyboss with a wealth of knowledge that she is willing to share.

Do you have any new projects coming up (or have you just completed a big project ~ reached a milestone, etc.)?

Next year I have quite a few ventures and most of them are with my friends. I am going to help host the Black Is Love 11th Annual picnic in Chicago that will be a lot of fun. I am partnering with Alecia Tameko for a friends and family cruise. I became a member of APS Books and more and Global Executive Media (GEM). I’m sure we will be partnering on some projects. Last but not least I will be partnering with Tiffany A. Green for the Real Divas Win Anthology Volume 2. I am really excited about 2019 and what it has in store for me. (

Who are you behind the business?
I am the same person you read about on my blog because my business is my life. I think most people don’t know that although it seems like I’m out a lot, my most enjoyable moments are spent at home on my comfy couch reading my magazine subscriptions and binge watching Netflix. I think another shocker would be that I’m an introvert and being this social butterfly that you see is not as easy as it seems. My favorite thing in the world to do is vacation. I enjoy soaking up the cultures in other country and states. My best trip so far has been my recent trip to Costa Rica. I stayed at the worst resort every but had the time of my life climbing mountains, looking at waterfalls, horseback riding, soaking in hot spring water, and sliding down a 450 meter water slide down a volcano. I am scared of everything but love adventure quite the oxymoron.
My Facebook and Instagram shows more of my daily routine. Tell us who you are when no is looking. What do you do for fun/relaxation? What’s your favorite vacation spot to unwind?
What’s at the top of your list of Goals you plan to accomplish over the next year.Unfortunately, I have to go back into Corporate America after 6 months of diving into my dream. My goal is to keep up with sharing my knowledge with my readers. I am going to work on my inverted behavior so that I can book more events and host more parties. I really enjoy surrounding myself with genuinely happy people.
Are you an author? If so, Tell us about your books or book. Titles, and where we can purchase.
I am a co-author in the Real Divas Win Anthology. I also write my own lifestyle blog titled TonShay Theresa The Experience. Both embody me as a person and my experience as I navigate life. You can find  Real Divas Win Anthology and read my blog at
I want to write a book on Living Your Best Life. A lot of times we get tied up in what we think our life should be like instead of living our best life. Every day there is an experience waiting to happen and every day we experience something new or different it’s up to you to find the beauty in it. Find a reason every day to be happy no matter what your circumstances are.
What’s the best way for our readers connect with you (feel free to include the links to your social networks and website. The best way for me readers to connect with me is by following my blog to stay updated on all my excursions and experience and by following  @TonShayTheresa on Facebook Instagram and Twitter
